Academy Soccer (U10 - U11 Program)

The U10 and U11 Academy Program is an alternative to the traditional recreational and select (traveling) team programs and offers the opportunity for advanced development of the young soccer player. This program is a league for boys and girls ages 8-11 years old. The focus of this league will be participation and development in a fun and rewarding environment, within a competitive arena, while emphasizing proper skills acquisition and training techniques.

The Academy follows a training curriculum that is fun, but also conducive to optimum player development. The goal of this program is to implement Georgia State Soccer Association and the United States Soccer Federation’s guidelines and recommendations for youth player development. All teams are trained by appropriately licensed, professional Club coaches to provide the players with the best possible foundation of skills and knowledge of the game.

The players will be selected through an evaluation process (see our Calendar of Events for tryout dates) then placed on a team with players of like ability. Throughout the season, games will be played against other Concorde Fire Academy teams and against other local clubs’ Academy teams. Players within the teams may be rotated and exchanged from team to team throughout the season.

Team training will occur twice weekly with games on weekends. Additional training opportunities along with speed, strength and agility training will be available and encouraged. The Academy teams will participate in 2 – 4 tournaments per year.

Academy soccer emphasizes maximum development of individual skills, and provides the opportunity to apply those skills in a competitive environment, including intramurals, league play and tournament competition. Young players with commitment, skills and attitude will find Academy Soccer to be a good introduction to Select or Athena play. Acceptance to the Concorde Academy Soccer program is based on player evaluations, which take place during tryouts each spring.

Concorde Fire Academy Soccer and its players make a mutual one-year commitment, which lasts until the tryout period the following year. While you are playing at Concorde, we ask that you give careful consideration to absences so that the effect on the other players is minimized. Regular attendance at practice sessions is encouraged.

Concorde Fire expects players who represent the club to maintain high standards of personal behavior both on and off the field. We place great importance on academics and expect players to organize their activities to accommodate both schoolwork and soccer at high levels of achievement. We look to parents to ensure that their Concorde Fire players reach games and practices on time, to attend whenever possible with a positive attitude, and to participate in the running of the Club in some capacity. There is a continuing need for abilities of every kind; please review the Volunteer Opportunities in your registration package, or ask any coach or team manager for details.

Everyone should take any opportunity to watch and learn about soccer by supporting the Atlanta Silverbacks, the Beat, watching MLS and European matches on television or even learning to become a referee! Players as young as 11 (and their parents) can take the entry-level USSF referee course, and upon certification can be paid for helping referee Georgia Youth Soccer Association games.

Fees and Other Costs

Please see the Concorde Fee Agreement in the Registration Package for a breakdown of fees for each age level. Please note that teams may also choose to participate in local or regional tournaments and will require additional costs that may range from $25 – $60 per player, per tournament, independent of lodging costs.
